Access Queens Awarded Grant from Citizens Committee for New York City

We are pleased to announce that Access Queens was awarded a grant from the Citizens Committee for New York City (CCNYC). CCNYC’s mission rests on helping New Yorkers — especially those in low-income areas — come together and improve the quality of life in their neighborhoods, whether it's organizing a farmer's market or painting a mural.

"Many riders speak languages other than English that rely on the 7 Train everyday," said Executive Founder Melissa Orlando. "7 Train Blues(SM), our social media campaign on Facebook and Twitter, has drawn in thousands of diverse followers, but not everyone who faces challenges with the 7 is online."

With the grant, we plan on developing and translating marketing and resource materials in Spanish, Mandarin, and Bengalese to reach a wider audience with information about Access Queens' initiatives and how to navigate the overburdened transit system in Queens.

If you have recommendations on local periodicals or ways to reach Mandarin-, Bengalese-, and Spanish-speakers, please contact us. Visit CCNYC's webpage about us to learn more.
